Chrystal Nicole DeHart was born on May 7, 1976 in Rutherfordton, NC.
An honor’s graduate of McDowell High School in Marion, NC, she
received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with Honors
and Distinction from The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in
1998 and her Juris Doctorate from Emory University School of Law in
Atlanta, GA in May of 2001.
While at Carolina, Ms. DeHart received the Outstanding Senior award and
was on the Dean’s List five times. In addition, she was involved in
Carolina Leadership Development, Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity,
Student Government Academic Affairs Committee, and was a volunteer with
Orange County Kids Read Program, Ronald McDonald House, the Immunization
Awareness Program, and several Food Closets.
In 1996, Ms. DeHart spent the summer in Washington, DC as a visiting
student at American University and as an intern with the Democratic
Congressional Campaign Committee.
While at Emory, she was involved in several extra-curricular activities
which include volunteering with Emory Student Legal Services, Georgia
Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and the DeKalb Bar Association, as well
as, being a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and the American
Bar Association student division. Furthermore, Ms. DeHart held several
internships and clerkships during law school. These include interning
with DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, being a research assistant for
Professor Jeffrey Pennell, clerking for Worley & Seagle in
Asheville, NC, and interning at the Atlanta, GA Field Office of the
Internal Revenue Service.
Ms. DeHart, who is a member of the North Carolina Bar
Association and the American
Bar Association, currently practices in the areas of Estate Planning
and Administration, Real Estate, Tax, and Business Law.
